August is a great time to visit or stay at our Cabin! The bugs are gone and weather is cool. The meteors are visible to the Northeast toward Kendall Peak.

The Cabin is a great place to base for hikes, bike rides, and climbs in the Snoqualmie Peaks! Are you signed off to open and close so you can come and go as you please? How do I do this you ask? Just volunteer in some capacity for the Club! A work party is a great way to fulfill this commitment!

Now the commercial for the Sept 11 Work Party!!

Help John finish the outside of the Cabin (Guye Cabin Red)!
Help Ed finish the Ping Pong room!

Paint the Family Room
Paint 3 windows in the Dining Room
Caulk all the outside windows
Clean all the windows with glass cleaner
Split and stack even more wood
Carpentry projects -  trim some doors and windows.
Outside stairs (Eli and Karel)

Bert Bradley installed carpet in the upstairs hall, and men's and women's dorms. It will make the upstairs much quieter.

It looks great too!!

We had a great time! Allison Longley was up on scaffolding, and John Sargent was high on ladder already at 8 am when Doerte and I arrived!

Ed Kelting was already working on the paneling for the ping pong room.

Richard Korey donated a Climbing magazine archive.

He organized them and other stuff on the bookshelves.

Andrea and the kids are around somewhere.

The WAC has an outstanding Club Library.

Ernie Dietrich just donated some excellent books.

We had fantastic sunny weather, and not one bug was seen!

Doerte Mahanay and Bill Hooper taking a well deserved break!

Guye Cabin was originally built in 1932 by a bunch of volunteers just like us. Several additions were built over the years. The work has always been done by work parties just like this one! We are working hard to make sure that maintenance and needed repairs are done to keep the Cabin in top condition. Our Cabin deserves our respect and care! Remember, 2007 is the 75th anniversary of Guye Cabin!

We are trying to wrap up the painting inside and outside!

Ed Kelting is leading the Ping Pong Room remodel. It is not done, but already looking great!

That's Mike trying to help.

Les is plugging away at the electrical upgrades! It seems he is often on a ladder.

Have you seen the WAC swing, and swimming hole? Ever played horseshoes?

George Brain got a great deal on a new double pane window for upstairs. George worked really hard finding and repairing the window. Then getting it ready for Ed to install.

Look at that great view of the trees we never had before!

Ed Kelting somehow managed to find time to frame in the new window!

The Altizer Family stopped by to say hi on their way to Lake Chelan.

John Sargent working his way around the Cabin. He applied 9 gallons of paint. He was assisted by Allison Longley, who worked the entire day scraping, cleaning, moving ladders, and brushing the paint.

There is about 4 gallons left to do from the front door to the front of the Cabin.

John spent almost 12 hours on the ladder with the sprayer in his hand.

Jim Mossman painting the logs outside the Family dorm. It looks great!

Jim didn't drip even one drop of paint!

He is not resting! He is painting down low!

We didn't have any wood to split so Jim Mossman painted inside. Later on, we received a truck load of wood.

The new construction for the A frame house for the Fire Standpipe.

Bill and Dave, discuss the assembly with Richard and Andrea.

It got put together later on.

For lunch we had big cookout of hamburgers and all the trimmings.

Chris Sargent, Allison Langley, and Aley Brain just after the cookout.

Chris is eating a simply scrumptious piece of Rhubarb Bar made by Laura Sargent!

btw, the rhubarb is from the WAC garden!

12 of us stayed over Saturday night. We awoke to a beautiful Sunday morning, and time to get ready for the Old Timers!

The Old Timers was well attended! There were 45 or more folks renewing old friendships, and talking about fun times of the past!

Tim Sargent, Jeff Sargent, and Aley Brain react to the suggestion of Root Beer floats!

Yaahoo!

A huge thanks to everyone who donated their time and participated this weekend!!!
We accomplished an amazing amount! The day was packed with fun!

When you visit the Cabin:

Don't forget to sign in the Cabin Log Book! This is a historical record of the Cabin and it is fun to look back and see the work parties of years past!

Also, introduce yourself to everyone, relax, enjoy some fellowship, and have a great time!
