The gleaming new stove donated by Sim Larkin! Chloe Parsons shows it off! This stove is perfect match for the kitchen and works perfectly and is spotless! It looks like it just came from the showroom! Thanks Sim!!!

Summer is a great time to visit or stay at our Cabin!

Access is easy and you might even have it to yourself! The Cabin is a great place to base for hikes, bike rides, and climbs in the Snoqualmie Peaks!

First the commercial!
Is there anything left to do at the July 10 Work Party??
Yep! Here is a list of things that might happen!
Paint the Outside of the Cabin (Guye Cabin Red)!
Paint the Family Room
Caulk all the outside windows
Clean all the windows with glass cleaner
Split and stack more wood
Carpentry projects- replace some steps, and trim some doors and windows.
Build a house for the standpipe, and close hole in foundation (Bill Hooper)
Build a closet for the sprinkler, Close in the Garage door (Ed Kelting)
Carpet the hall and upstairs dorms (Bert Bradley)

We'll again have a cookout for lunch, bring stuff for burger or hotdogs and a dish to share!

So what happened this weekend?

Archie Brendan hauls one of the old couches out of the Cabin. We replaced the 4 couches in the worst condition with 4 almost new ones.

Archie also brought up a big load of kindling for next winter!

(We still need more)

One of the big projects of the day was to attempt to locate one or two survey markers. Dave Mitchell and Lee Parsons spent most of the day wandering the WAC woods with compass and tape measures. They were assisted by Bill Hooper, Claudio, Archie, Mike, and Eli Holmes. They managed to locate three markers plus one by Eli Holmes, that is not on the 1968 survey! That should be enough to get our official Survey started very soon!

Dave Mitchell and Lee Parsons look over the 1968 property survey.

Guye Cabin was originally built in 1932. Several additions were built over the years. The work has always been done by work parties just like this one! We are working hard to make sure that maintenance and needed repairs are done to keep the Cabin in top condition. Our Cabin deserves our respect and care! Remember, 2007 is the 75th anniversary of Guye Cabin!

We are painting inside and outside! Doerte sanded and painted the dining room door.

George Brain and Rachel Parsons painting the hallway to the drying room. Rachel had the honors of being the first to paint the new sprinkler pipe!

We cleaned up the yard and cleaned out the back porch by the coal bin.

The Woodchoppers Ball!

Mike Beck working on a tough piece! Knots are tough to split!

Even with the full day's work that Mike Beck, Jonathan, Archie, and Jim Mossman did, the Cabin is still in need of more firewood and kindling. If you have burnable wood you need to get rid of, just bring it up!

Donate it to our Cabin!

Have you seen the WAC swing, and swimming hole? Ever played horseshoes?

Rhonda Jalali started painting the outside of the Cabin. She did a big section. You can really see the difference between old and new in the photo. It looks great!

We'll follow her lead and do the whole thing this summer!

The long awaited mid-afternoon refreshment break! Aley Brain served up the best root beer floats on either side of the Cascades for everyone!

Archie, Claudio, Doerte, and Aley serving up the last of the floats!

Mike Mahanay hauled a load of debris and trash to the dump!

Shawn Parsons gives Jonathan Pryce a couple of pointers on splitting rounds.

Shawn was one of a crack team of WAC woodchoppers!

In this one amazing photo we have six of the best minds in the WAC looking at a hole in the yard!

Lee Parsons, Archie Brendan, Dave Mitchell, Mike Mahanay, Jonathan Pryce, Claudio Bucceri

Mike Beck, Jonathan Pryce, Archie Brendan, and Jim Mossman participated in the Woodchoppers Ball!

Rhonda's son, Matt, and  friend Nick stacking the split wood. They wheel-barrowed it into the porch.

14 of us stayed over Saturday night. We awoke Sunday morning to lots of rain so we relaxed and had a leisurely morning.

The work-party even spilled over to Sunday!

The Sargents' stopped in for some lunch on their way back from a bike race in Wenatchee. John took the opportunity to replace the leaking toilet in the men's restroom.

Greg Woodman came by with his chain saw and cut a bunch more rounds to split.

John Sargent shows off the new toilet he installed in the men's restroom.

He said it is the latest model and has a power flush system.

Thanks to John for donating this to the Cabin!!!

Claudio used his 4X4 and winch to pull three dead trees out to where they could be worked on. Greg sawed them up.

Greg Woodman arrived on Sunday morning and sawed up a some dead and down logs.

Who will split these first? My money is on Jim Mossman!

A huge thanks to everyone who donated their time and participated this weekend!!!
We accomplished a lot and had a lot of fun!

When you visit the Cabin:

Don't forget to sign in the Cabin Log Book! This is a historical record of the Cabin and it is fun to look back and see the work parties of years past!

Also, introduce yourself to everyone, relax, enjoy some fellowship, and have a great time!
