This was our second big work party of the year! With Archie's leadership we were able to replace the old garage door with a new wall complete with a big door and window! The ping pong room now has access, light, and is a nice usable space! We all had a great time and got a lot of things done. It sure feels good to help out the Cabin, the Club, and make some new friends!

It always amazes me that the WAC is filled with people who cherish an opportunity to work as a team and get things done.

We'll have only one more on Saturday July 16 to finish up the ping pong room remodel! Once again, we'll do a BBQ cookout!

What else do we need to do? Split and stack wood. Clean windows, Clean the top of the light fixtures and ceiling fans. Caulk some windows. Clean the WAC grounds, make a dump run, transplant some trees. Finish the outside stairs.

We could use some kindling ( in boxes if you have some)

Dave Mitchell putting the final touches on the Fire Alarm.

The alarm is monitored, and if it goes off the Fire Department will respond!

Have you visited the Cabin lately? It is the perfect place to spend a getaway weekend. Snoqualmie Pass offers many great hikes and bike rides.

Chuck and Diane putting a coat of polyurethane on the new insulated walls. I don't know how they managed to stay so clean!

Diane also prepared a rhubarb crisp fresh from the WAC garden! Yummm!

The rhubarb in the WAC garden dates back to 1932 and was planted by our esteemed Chef Nelson. It comes back every year!

Rachel Parsons painting over her head!

A huge thanks to all have participated in work parties this year!
These people cut the talk and stepped up and donated time, money, sweat, blood, tears, and great food!

Les Sargent sanding the Drexel Table. Rachel refinished the top, and it looks great now!

The table was given to the Cabin by the Snoqualmie Pass Fire Department.

Chloe and Sean having fun in the sawdust!

Jim Mossman has been working to refinish the Family Dorm door. If you see it missing it is because he is working on it! He is removing several coats of paint, and then hand sanding the door to bring out the fine grains of the high quality hard wood. He estimates he has an additional 8 hours of work to complete the project! Total time spent will be about 24 hours on the door.

Bert Bradley installing some more new carpet!

The new carpet will be easy to keep clean, long lasting, and make Guye Cabin warmer and quieter. And, the best part? It looks great!

Bert has installed all the carpet in Guye Cabin.

Want to get signed off to open or close Guye Cabin on your own?
It's easy! Just volunteer at least one full day in some capacity for the Club! This could include participating in a Cabin Work Party, being an instructor for the climbing class, serving on the WAC Board, or as Conservation Chair or First Aid Chair.

When you visit the Cabin:

Don't forget to sign in the Cabin Log Book! This is a historical record of the Cabin and it is fun to look back and see the work parties of years past!

Pay your Cabin fees.

Also, introduce yourself to everyone, relax, enjoy some fellowship, and have a great time!

Spending the day, or staying overnight at Guye Cabin?

You must pay your Cabin Fees if you use the Cabin other than at a Club function (such as a work party)

Guye Cabin fees are only $10.00 per night per person (which includes two days), or $4.00 for day use. Kids under 13 are free! There is no parking fee at this time.

Here is the daily fee schedule:

$70.00 per person,
$100.00 for two,
$120.00 for three or more family members (13 and older).

Kids under 13 are free!

This is a great way to not have to worry about sending in your fee every weekend to the WAC Treasurer. Plus the added benefit of knowing that YOU are helping to support Guye Cabin!

Couples which only include 1 WAC member must pay the guest fee for the spouse/significant other/friend.

Please send your Cabin fees after each stay to:

Doerte Mahanay, WAC Treasurer
3750 SW 100 Street
Seattle, WA 98146

All Cabin fees go back into providing electricity, water, and heat for the cabin. As well as maintenance and improvements!

Daniel, a WAC wayward son, returned to assist Bert with the carpet.

Guye Cabin was originally built in 1932 by a bunch of volunteers just like us. Several additions were built over the years. The work has always been done by work parties of Club members! We are working hard to make sure that maintenance and needed repairs are done to keep the Cabin in top condition. Our Cabin deserves our respect and care!

Remember, 2007 is the 75th anniversary of Guye Cabin!

Lunch time! Woohoo!

Hot off the grill, we had hamburgers, turkey burgers, and veggie burgers! Your choice! All the food disappeared! Then we had Diane's Rhubarb Crisp for dessert.  Wow!

Dave Mitchell baked some brownies! Most were gone way before lunch!
