Each winter the Washington Alpine Club offers the Wednesday Night Telemark Class to skiers of all abilities. New this year we will also offer a randonee section.

This is the largest and most renowned telemark class in the Pacific Northwest!

All levels of skiers are accommodated, from beginners to advanced. Because of the size of our class we are able to divide the students into many sections of students with similar ability and goals.

Our class runs for six consecutive Wednesday evenings, from 7:30 to 9:30 beginning in January. Classes are being held at Snoqualmie Pass Central.

Lift tickets and rentals not included.

The WAC also offers Winter Backcountry classes!
The Backcountry Travel class focuses on safe backcountry travel. The class is divided into groups of snowshoers, and skiers (AT & Telemark).  The skiers are then further divided up by skiing ability. The class is limited to 25 students. Each touring section will be 5 students with 2 instructors. The first third of the course focuses entirely on Basic Avalanche Avoidance and Assessment and involves no time on skis. These skills are then further applied on two backcountry tours (one Day trip and one overnight). While out touring, students will learn about snow stability analysis, route selection, avalanche rescue techniques, winter navigation and camping, how to ski varied snow conditions, look good and have fun.

Winter Backcountry Travel Class

Interested in joining the Washington Alpine Club?

Membership is open to all.  Our membership includes hikers, climbers, snowshoers, snowboarders, alpine skiers, backcountry skiers, nordic skiers, Telemarkers, serious expedition climbers, families with children, grandparents, conservation minded, and lovers of the outdoors!

Membership dues are just $30 a year! There is a onetime $15 initiation fee. Then you will receive the monthly bulletin and, if desired, join the WAC’s Yahoo group, set up for the exclusive benefit of WAC members. The WAC is a 100% volunteer organization! You'll meet lots of great people, learn a new discipline, and have fun! Many WAC members join in their 20's and remain members for the rest of their lives!
